The New World Theatre Club has announced a Call for Auditions for its 2019 spring production, The Seagull by Anton Chekhov, to be directed by John Brigg, on Sunday 3 June from 14:00 to 17:00 at 11 Bisserweg, L-1238 Luxembourg-Grund (just past Oscars pub).
The Play: Chekhov’s first masterpiece is underpinned with a subtle yet complex humanity. It is a comedy of frustrated lives, of lost opportunities and the clash between generations in which each character must face their own aspirations and disappointments.
Audition: The audition will take the form of a 3-hour general workshop for all auditionees, using games, exercises and improvisations in a constructive, creative and supportive way in order to enable the best ensemble to be chosen for the play. There will be no individual auditions so there is no need to learn an “audition piece”, nor to be familiar with the play. The script itself will not be used during the workshop.
Those interested are requested to be at the venue by 13:45 in order to register and be ready to start at 14:00. Please wear comfortable clothes and footwear. If you are unable to attend on 3 June but are still interested in auditioning, contact John Brigg to make alternative arrangements on email: jbrigg@pt.lu or tel: 691-636631.
The production will be performed at the Kulturhaus in Mersch, with 5 performances between 28 February and 3 March (including a matinee).
The rehearsal period will be from Sept/Oct 2018, depending on cast availabilities.
