The New World Theatre Club (NWTC) has announced that it is to kick off the new year with an acting workshop with Philippa Strandberg-Long on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 January 2017.
Many LEATSS summer-schoolers will be familiar with Philippa's amazing work on Meisner techniques! NWTC is very excited that she is visiting Luxembourg at the end of January 2017 to share her passion for this acting technique during a one and half-day workshop for adults (16+). It is open to, and suitable for all, from beginners to experienced actors.
Philippa explained more about the Meisner workshop. "Meisner technique is widely recognised, in The United States, as one of the most important techniques for an actor to master. Having in recent years had more and more exposure in Europe, the demand and interest in the process has never been higher. Created by Sanford Meisner, the technique hones in on Stanislavski’s concept of COMMUNICATION, and highlights the importance of listening and reacting to the other actors. Through a series of exercises, carefully selected to follow on from one another, they train the actor’s observation and communication skills, ultimately teaching us how to read the behaviour of others. The training is incredibly beneficial to actors and not only helps them stay in the moment and communicate truthfully, but also curbs self-consciousness on stage. Beginners are very welcome. In this workshop the participants will be introduced to the beginning concepts and exercises, most importantly learn to master the famous Repetition exercise. This will be followed on with a day applying this work to text."
This one and a half day adult workshop runs from Saturday 28 January at 14:00-17:00 (at Altrimenti, Centre Convict, 5 avenue Marie-Thérèse, L–2132 Luxembourg) and Sunday 29 January 11:00-17:00 (at Tramschapp, 49 Rue Ermesinde, Limpertsberg) with one hour free for lunch.
Spaces are limited and offered on a first come-first-served basis. Non-members €100, NWTC members €90 and students (16+) €50.
