Luxembourg's Nature and Forest Agency (Administration de la nature et des forêts - ANF) has announced the revocation of one individual's hunting licence for two years over the unauthorised feeding of wildlife.

In 2018 and 2019, the ANF carried out several checks of bait stations on different hunting lots in the north of the Grand Duchy. At several of these bait stations, it was found that the permitted quantities of bait products were significantly exceeded, so that it was actually an issue of feeding game. In addition, significant quantities of these products were distributed to locations that had not been declared as bait stations to the ANF. It was also found that the products offered to wild boars had not been presented in such a way that the ruminants were unable to absorb them.

In this way, several infringements relating to hunting were observed several days after the ANF inspection.

By a judgement recently confirmed by all consecutive legal authorities, the tenant of the hunting lots in question saw his hunting licence withdrawn for a period of two years. He also received a €2,200 fine.

The ANF recalled that the law of 25 May 2011 on hunting prohibits the feeding of game. This prohibition is not only valid for hunters, but for the whole population. It is therefore also forbidden to feed game species present in built-up areas, such as foxes or raccoons.
