Film Fund Luxembourg has announced that six Luxembourg co-productions will feature on this year's Locarno Film Festival lineup.

The 76th edition of the Locarno Film Festival will take place in the Swiss city Locarno from Wednesday 2 to Saturday 12 August 2023.

Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World by Romanian director Radu Jude (winner of the Golden Bear at the 2021 Berlinale with the Luxembourg co-production Bad Luck Banging or Looney Porn) will compete in the official international competition. This film is a co-production between Luxembourg (Paul Thiltges Distributions), Romania, Sweden, Croatia and France.

Conann by French director Bertrand Mandic will compete in the "Fuori Consorso" (out-of-competition section made up of a selection of recent works by renowned filmmakers, with space given to atypical formats such as collective projects or film collections). This feature film is a Luxembourg (Les Films Fauves) co-production with France and Belgium.

The related virtual reality short film Nous les Barbares (We the Barbarians; directed by Bertrand Mandico on the ruins of the film sets of Conann in Esch-sur-Alzette/Schifflange) features in the same section.

A Greyhound of a Girl by Italian animator Enzo d'Alò, an animated film and Luxembourg co-production (Paul Thiltges Distributions) and Nina et le secret du hérisson (Nina and the Hedgehog's Secret), another animated Luxembourg co-production (Doghouse Films), will form part of the "Locarno Kids Screenings".

Finally, in partnership with the Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF), the virtual reality work Missing Pictures, directed by Clément Deneux and co-produced in Luxembourg (Wild Fang Films) will be presented at Locarno as part of the program of immersive experiences at the forefront of contemporary immersive storytelling
