LAR in Chisinau, Moldova;

Luxembourg Air Rescue (LAR) confirmed that, on Friday 22 April 2022, one of its air ambulances took off for a mission abroad, to bring Ukrainian war refugees to Luxembourg for medical treatment.

A Ukrainian patient, her spouse and their four children were on board the LAR ambulance jet which landed in the afternoon at Luxembourg Airport.

The family had previously found refuge in a refugee camp in Telenești in the Republic of Moldova. An ambulance first took the refugees to Chișinău, the Moldovan capital, before leaving with LAR for Luxembourg.

A specialised doctor took care of them and looked after the mother, whose state of health is precarious, during the flight. After landing, an LAR ambulance transported the mother to the Center Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) where she is now receiving medical care. For the father and the four children, the journey continued to the reception centre for refugees located in Kirchberg.

"The LAR shows its solidarity with people forced to flee war and destruction by making its know-how and equipment available to them quickly and easily. The key competence of LAR is thus fully exploited: professional cross-border air rescue by a highly qualified team”, underlined the president of LAR, René Closter.

The mission to the Republic of Moldova is the second mission for LAR since the start of the war in Ukraine. Just two weeks ago, the LAR had transferred a refugee woman from Poland, close to the Ukrainian border, to the CHL.
