On Saturday 9 April 2022, Luxembourg Air Rescue (LAR) evacuated a Ukrainian refugee to the Grand Duchy from Poland.
At the request of Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, an LAR ambulance jet took off on Saturday morning for a special mission from Findel to Lublin, a Polish town located 600 kilometres west of the Ukrainian border.
Upon arrival in Lublin, the LAR's medical treated a Ukrainian refugee, whose urgent medical treatment could not be provided on site. Once on Luxembourg soil, the patient was transferred to the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL).
This mission took place in collaboration with the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (Corps grand-ducal d'incendie et de secours - CGDIS).
The LAR ambulance jet, equipped as a flying intensive care unit, as well as its crew, consists of two pilots, an emergency doctor and an intensive care nurse.
