Luxembourg's Minister of Finance, Pierre Gramegna, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, and the Minister of the Economy, Franz Fayot, will participate in the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting (MCM), held within the framework of Luxembourg's vice-presidency, in Paris from 4 to 6 October 2021.

The MCM will be chaired by the United States, with South Korea and Luxembourg as vice-presidents, and will be themed “Shared Values: Building a Green and Inclusive Future”.

On Monday, Finance Minister Pierre Gramegna will speak together with OECD Secretary General Mathias Cormann at a high-level round table on the theme of environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria and the alignment of financial markets to promote climate transition.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Ministers Jean Asselborn, Pierre Gramegna and Franz Fayot will participate in the various working sessions of the OECD MCM and will have a series of bilateral interviews on the sidelines of this meeting.

The Ministerial Council Meeting is the OECD's highest-level forum, attended by ministers of finance, economy, foreign affairs, trade and other government departments of member and partner countries of the organisation, as well as representatives of other international organisations.

The first part of the MCM, which took place virtually on 31 May and 1 June 2021, provided an opportunity to reflect on lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and to share priorities for short-term recovery. The second part and related events will tackle the challenges in the medium and long term, with a focus on the climate crisis and the transition to carbon neutrality, as well as the need to make the more inclusive future by fostering digital transformation and creating opportunities for all. Based on theie shared values, OECD members will adopt a new "vision statement" to guide the organisation over the next decade.
