Luxembourg's Minister of Culture, Maggy Nagel, was in Russia to participate in the 4th International Cultural Forum held in St. Petersburg on 14 and 15 December 2015.

The 2015 edition of the forum was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Unesco, in particular the preservation of sites on the World Heritage List. It was inaugurated by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and the Director General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova.

During this visit, which has strengthened the promotion of cultural relations between Luxembourg and Russia, Minister Nagel met with her Russian counterpart, Minister Vladimir Medinsky. Then signed a protocol document of the Russian-Luxembourg Committee for cultural cooperation for 2015-2018, in the presence of the two Ministers of Culture.

Minister Nagel also met with leaders of cultural institutions, including the director of the Hermitage Museum, Mikhail Borisovich Piotrovsky, and the director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Erarta, Mr. Ivanchenko, in order to consider the modalities for cooperation with Luxembourg museums.

During the visit the Minister was accompanied by Bob Krieps, first government advisor at the Ministry of Culture, and Pierre Ferring, Luxembourg Ambassador to the Russian Federation.
