Following his visit to Moria refugee centre in Greece, Luxembourg Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Jean Asselborn, yesterday participated in the migration conference held by the European Confederation of Independent Trade Unions (CESI) in Brussels.

Founded in 1990, the CESI assembles independent trade unions from EU Member States and candidate countries, representing around 5 million people. The CESI is committed to improving the conditions of life and work and the social dimension of the EU.

Minister Asselborn presented the theme of 'Public Sector Workers in Europe Facing New Challenges of Migration' and stated the priorities of the Luxembourg President of the Council of the EU in terms of migration. His speech, which was followed by a debate, was also used to inform those present of the work undertaken in this field by the Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) Council, which the Minister currently chairs.
