On Thursday, the cabinet of the Luxembourg government met to address various issues including the Grand Duchy's participation in the NATO force in Kosovo.
They agreed to adopt a draft Grand-Ducal regulation amending that of 5 December 2007 on the Luxembourg participation in the NATO force in Kosovo. The mandate authorising Luxembourg's participation in KFOR expires on 15 November 2015. The draft regulation provides for Luxembourg's participation in the KFOR mission with a deployment of 26 military personnel for two more years from 16 November 2015 to 15 November 2017 with the possibility, under certain conditions, to increase the Luxembourg presence at a maximum of 34 soldiers there.
The NATO mission KFOR in Kosovo is a support operation for peace, which aims at consolidating peace and stability in the region. Luxembourg has participated in the KFOR mission since 2000.
