Luxembourg's Prime Minister and Minister for Communications and Media, Xavier Bettel, is currently in New York City on a fact-finding mission in the domain of ICT.

PM Bettel delivered the opening speech at a conference entitled "Cybersecurity and Data Privacy: Issues Affecting business on Both Sides of the Atlantic" in which he referred to the importance of trust in transatlantic cooperation and stressed that "this trust can be done on the basis of common rules and through cooperation at all levels - research, innovation, creation, promotion and implementation of new products and services."

In addition, he met with representatives of Talkwalker SA, a Luxembourg company specialising in the development of monitoring tools and social media analysis. Talkwalker was founded in 2008 and has recently entered the US market with the opening of new offices in New York. The Prime Minister congratulated the leaders of Talkwalker for the success that the company has experienced since its inception and was informed about future projects in the United States and Luxembourg.

Following his visit to the west coast in February 2015, PM Bettel is visiting the east coast to focus on the field of dynamic information technology. His diary also saw him meet with business leaders in the FinTech and Venture Capital sector. At a dinner at the "Luxembourg House" in New York, he met a delegation of business leaders from the financial sector to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the field of new technologies for the Luxembourg financial centre.
