Details:

After a break last year due to COVID-19, Amnesty International Luxembourg is organising its traditional torchlight walk again on Human Rights Day: CANCELLED.

The walk will depart in front of the former POST building in Hamilius in Luxembourg-Ville on Friday 10 December 2021 at 18:00.

As in previous years, participants will walk through the streets of the city centre with torches in hand (candles will be available for children) as a symbol of hope. To make the procession more open and inclusive, the organisers have chosen a route without obstacles so that people with reduced mobility or families with prams can also join.

This time, the walk will focus on the ten individuals and groups of the Write for Rights campaign; participants can also take action and support these individuals during a letter-writing evening immediately afterwards.

Every year around International Human Rights Day (10 December), hundreds of thousands of people around the world send a letter, email or messages on social networks in support of someone they have never met. From 2,326 letters in 2001 to 4.5 million letters, tweets and signatures in 2020, Write for Rights participants are using the power of words to unite behind a common goal: to support people, wherever they are in the world.
