Organised by the Asteroid Foundation, the 2023 Asteroid Day is being held on 30 June 2023 online, with a Luxembourg Space Festival for families, students, and the general public, on 1 July 2023.
The event supports STEAM educcation thanks to the involvement of best-in-class scientists and astronauts from across the world
The Asteroid Foundation's mission is to deliver inspiring educational content to Luxembourg and around the globe, gather astronauts, engineers, and scientists, bring all the stakeholders involved in the space sector in Luxembourg and beyond together, and welcome the public to join our networks and programmes.
Asteroid Day History
In 2015, the first ever debut of Asteroid Day LIVE broadcast hosted in both London and San Francisco. In 2016, the broadcast was fully produced in San Francisco’s Academy of Sciences.
Thanks to the support of the Luxembourg Government, in 2017, 2018, 2019, Asteroid Day LIVE was produced from the Broadcasting Center Europe (BCE) studio in Luxembourg-Kirchberg. With the partnership of SES, the live broadcast was able to reach a global audience.
With the changing climate of in-person events, Asteroid Day LIVE was fully produced online in both 2020 and 2021 with global distribution via SES satellites and Twitch TV.
Then again in 2022, Asteroid Day LIVE was shot in Luxembourg with astronauts and experts visiting from all around the US and Europe.
