Details:

The Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg has announced a series of Summer Workshops taking place from 4 to 8 September 2023 at the University of Luxembourg in Esch-Belval.

These Summer Workshops will comprise a Chinese language course and a different cultural activity each day, from 13:30 - 17:30 each afternoon.

Mon: Tai Chi: a Chinese martial art that has become one of the world’s most popular forms of exercise. Tai Chi uses soft, slow and continuous movements to train the body and focus the mind. Studies have shown that practising Tai Chi can improve one’s health, reduce stress and provide relief for ailments such as high blood pressure, arthritis and osteoporosis.
Tue: Dancing Noodles: It’s time to cook! This workshop will tantalise your taste buds. In collaboration with the restaurant Dancing Noodles, the Confucius Institute invites you to learn how to make Chinese noodles. Tasting included!
Wed: Go, an abstract strategy game for two players in which the aim is to capture more territory than your opponent. The game was invented more than 2,500 years ago in China and is one of the oldest games still played today. It takes 5 minutes to learn, but a lifetime to master its near infinite possibilities. This workshop is organised in collaboration with the Luxembourg Go Association. Let's play!
Thu: Calligraphy: Prepare to be transported to another world as you experience the “breath of the brush”! The workshop will not only teach you the basics of this elegant art form; it will also provide you with an opportunity to relax in an enjoyable atmosphere.
Sat: Beijing Opera:  This workshop will take you behind the scenes of this ancestral art, where you will learn the codes and the meaning of colours, and have the chance to create your own masks!

Cost: €20/day (students €10/day); 5-day packages €80 (students €50); children from 6 years old.
