Details: A fishing trip from Luxembourg to Ireland is being organised in connection with The Gathering in Ireland this year. The Gathering is not any single event, rather a year-long celebration of all things Irish - culture, heritage, sport, etc. It is a people-led initiative to encourage people in Ireland to invite people from abroad to Ireland, as well as an invitation to people abroad to come back to Ireland. The Gathering comprises two kinds of event: inviting a group (back) to Ireland for a reunion, as well as festivals and specific events. John Chalmers of the Pyg in Clausen has announced details of a fishing trip he is organising to Courtmacsherry, near Kinsale in Co. Cork. The trip will be over a long week-end from 30 May to 3 June, with around 10 or so people participating. The idea is to have at least two days sea fishing with hopefully some whale and dolphin viewing as part of the trip, with maybe a wee prize or two just to keep everyone on their toes! The village describes itself as a "drinking village with a fishing problem", so have no fear, the evenings' entertainment will also be taken care of! An exact price at the moment is impossible to predict, as it will depend on precisely how the trip is structured and how many people participate, but the aim is to try and keep it under €500 per person - to cover the fishing (including bait and tackle), B&B accommodation. packed lunches and a couple of evening meals - flights will be separate, but we will try and negotiate a deal. Clearly more information to come in due course... Venue: Courtmacsherry, Co.
