The Ireland Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (ILCC) has confirmed that it is organising an evening event on Thursday 4 October 2018 from 18:30 (venue to be confirmed).

Mark Pollock will speak om "How can we be resilient in the face of challenges?"

There can be days when it all seems too much. Work, the house, the garden, dealing with life’s seemingly never-ending demands. Whether in work or in other parts of our lives, we sometimes struggle and are in need of inspiration to stay resilient.

Mark Pollock is an Irish international motivational speaker, explorer and author who became the first blind man to race to the South Pole. As part of a three-man team called South Pole Flag, he spent 43 days in January 2009 trekking in temperatures as low as -43C. In 2010, he was left paralysed after a fall from a second story window. Now, Mark is exploring the intersection where humans and technology collide and catalysing collaborations that have never been done before.

Selected by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader and appointed to the Global Futures Council on Human Enhancement, Mark is a UBS Global Visionary, is on the Board of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation (USA) and is a Wings for Life Ambassador (Europe). He is the subject of the acclaimed documentary called Unbreakable, is a TED, Davos, Wired and EG speaker. He is co-founder of the global running series called Run in the Dark, which will also take place in Luxembourg on 14 November this year.

He has been awarded honorary doctorates by The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and also from Queens University Belfast. And, he holds a diploma in Global Leadership and Public Policy for the 21st Century from Harvard University, degrees from Trinity College Dublin and The Smurfit Business School.

It has been said about Mark that his ability to link his personal story to people´s everyday life and work challenges is excellent. It is not just about listening to an incredible story, it’s a chance for everyone to really think about themselves. There is something in his talks for everyone.

Registration will open shortly. For further details, see www.ilcc.lu.

The ILCC was started in 2012 to support the introduction of individuals and businesses to each other in Luxembourg. The ILCC aims to develop links with other Irish Chambers, business groups, the international Irish corporate network and relevant bodies in Ireland.
