Details: A total of 11 companies and institutions based in Luxembourg-Kirchberg are celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Private Art Kirchberg initiative, and the launch of a new edition this year; as in past editions, they will open their doors to the public to unveil their private art collections on 25 September 2016.
Recent years have seen rapid growth in the commitment of companies and institutions in Luxembourg towards private art collections. The Private Art Kirchberg initiative resulted from a common desire to share hidden treasures with the public. Every two years since 2006, art and architecture lovers have the opportunity to enter the premises of the participating institutions which take part in the initiative, and are transformed into an art gallery for the occasion.
Stretching across the entire Kirchberg Plateau, this “open doors” day makes it possible for the public not only to understand the commitment and the approach of these companies and institutions when it comes to art, but also to discover hidden treasures and to invite people to visit a district usually dedicated to business, shopping or cuisine.
Today, “private” art - works of art owned by institutions and thus not accessible to the public - has become a vital part of our cultural lives. For the company, an art collection offers manifold opportunities: it symbolizes the commitment to its location and contributes to the development of the latter. It makes art accessible to the employees, fosters corporate culture as well as creativity and supports the artists. Moreover, it is an investment and finally, it reveals a certain love for art.
The public interest has equally increased because these collections are the result of systematic purchases with a clear concept, which takes into account the future surroundings of the different works of art.
The initiative „Private Art Kirchberg” , which was initiated by Clearstream / Deutsche Börse Group, was already a resounding success in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014. This year, the participating institutions and companies are happy to once again present their art collections to the curious and the genuine art lover.
On 25 September, shuttles leading from one site to another will be available from 11:00 - 18:00. The eleven organisations include Allen & Overy, Arendt & Medernach, the EIB, BGL BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank Luxembourg, EY, Fidelity, Clearstream, Fonds Kirchberg, Pictet and UBS.
