Details: LuxDoc, Luxembourg's Young Researchers Association, in collaboration with EuroDoc, the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers, are organising the 16th EURODOC Annual Conference in Luxembourg on 20 and 21 April 2016.

Representatives of doctoral candidates and researcher associations, as well as heads of public institutions like the University of Luxembourg, Fonds National de la Recherche and the European Commission, are gathering in Luxembourg in April to discuss the goals of postgraduate training and career perspectives for young researchers.

The EURODOC conference is taking place for the first time in Luxembourg, and it is the biggest and most important conference of this kind in Europe. For Luxembourg, the 16th EURODOC Annual Conference will allow sharing the celebration of the 10th anniversary of doctoral training in Luxembourg.

The EURODOC conference will take place on 20-21 April in the new premises of the University of Luxembourg in Esch-Belval. The conference will start with an opening ceremony at 15:30 on Wednesday 20 April, and the first plenary session will discuss the goals of the postgraduate education with case studies from Serbia and Luxembourg. The second day will cover novel approaches to postgraduate education, cross-border collaboration, funding schemes in Europe and good practices in doctoral training. The overall goals with be to align on what should be in-/ex-cluded in the training of PhD candidates in the future, what are the main goals of early stage researcher training, and to what extent and on which scale should the training be standardised.

Among the speakers will be: Rainer KLUMP (President of the University of Luxembourg), Rinske VAN DER BERG (Policy Officer EU), Marc SCHILTZ (Secretary General of FNR), Thomas JORGENSEN (Head of Unit EUA), Vera SPAUTZ (Mayor of Esch).
