Danish String Quartet in Concert

since its creation in 2002, the Danish String Quartet has continued to delight audiences around the world. These thirty year-olds, three Danish and one Norwegian, produce a magical sound that is spotless and perfectly balanced with sharpness. Since its debut, the quartet has demonstrated its passion for Scandinavian composers and frequently integrates bold programmes. Supported by the BBC as part of the New Generation Artists programme, the quartet has performed in the greatest music centeres of the world, including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Glasgow, Dortmund, Weimar, London, Brussels as well as New York and the west coast of the United States.

In 10 years of existence, the Danish String Quartet has reached incredible heights. Essentially formed by teacher and mentor Tim Frederiksen, the quartet has participated in masterclasses, including the Tokyo Quartet and the Emerson Quartet, and with Alasdair Tait, Paul Katz and Hugh Maguire. The triumph of the quartet was in 2009 by winning the first prize of the 11th London International String Quartet Competition, and several competitions in Denmark, Norway and Holland. In 2011 it also received the very prestigious Carl Nielsen Prize. With an impeccable technique, profound musicality and obvious pleasure to play - the hallmark of the Danish String Quartet.
