Details: On Saturday 30 April 2016, the non-profit organisation INclusive by DZIGN will be holding an event bringing together young Israeli students from the COMAS Design School in Rishon LeTzion and Luxembourgish designers in support of the elderly.
Entitled 'Dzigning the TimeLine: Inclusive Design for the Elderly', the programme saw nine designers in both countries undertake different case-studies in order to gain an overview of the environments of elderly homes and centres in both cultural contexts. The designers have spent an entire semester developing projects with the objective of improving the living spaces of elderly people. Five original projects have now been brought to fruition and will be exhibited from 27 April to 22 May 2016 at the Luxembourg Center for Architecture (LUCA) as part of the Luxembourg Design Biennale. This programme proposes that more spaces promoting inclusive ideas and concepts be put in elderly homes, that multi-sensory experiences be stimulated to evoke positive memories, that seniors be made to feel less isolated through intergenerational exchanges and that the elderly rediscover their independance by using innovative and appropriate technology. INclusive by DZIGN aims to promote the process of inclusive design which merges ergonomics and aesthetics to develop solutions within the design of a product that take into account the health, mobility or sensory fragility of its user. Through cooperative projects featuring young designers at home and abroad, INclusive by DZIGN helps generate social and cultural inclusion across generations by and whilst relieving societal challenges.
