Monday 22 June: Luxembourg city
The Changing of the Guard at the Grand Ducal Palace will take place on Monday 22 June at 16:00, and the Royal Family will appear on the balcony of the palace shortly after 16:00. The Torchlit parade will start at 21:15 and the traditional fireworks will start at around 23:00, with a number of concerts before and after that.
The route of this year's torchlit parade is different to that in previous years, with the new route from avenue de la Gare – Viaduc - boulevard F.D. Roosevelt - rue Philippe II, with the Grand Ducal stand on boulevard F.D. Roosevelt, close to the Gëlle Fra (Golden Lady) monument. A total of 39 organisations will participate in this year's parade.
The fireworks will again be fired from the Fort Thüngen (Trois Glands) on Kirchberg, as the Pont Adolphe is still undergoing repairs, and will last 17 minutes. It will not be accompanied by music this year. The best vantage points to see the fireworks will be boulevard Ulveling, boulevard Thorn, the Corniche, montée de Clausen and montée de Pfaffenthal, côte d’Eich, Cents, Fetschenhof and the Grund, Clausen eand Pfaffenthal.
The musical concerts will start on place Guillaume II at 19:00 with Jaune Toujours, followed by Nomfusi at 20:45, Txarango at 22:30 and Bazzookas at 00:15. The place d'Armes bandstand will see the Harmonie Municipale Luxembourg-Limpertsberg at 19:30 and Singers Unlimited at 22:00. Stages on the rue du Saint-Esprit, place Clairefontaine, place de la Constitution, the puits rouge and the Corniche will feature local and internatioanl band playing long into the night.
Tuesday 23 June: Luxembourg City
The official programme starts at 10:00 with the official ceremony at the Philharmonie in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, followed by the 21 gun salute from the canons at Fetschenhof (INS in Cents) at 11:00. The military parade will proceed along the Avue de la Liberté from 11:30 and the Te Deum service will take place in the cathedral at 16:30 with members of the royal family in attendance.
The Kinnekswiss park in Luxembourg's city centre will feature games for all between 10:00 - 18:00, and the Place d'Armes bandstand will feature the Ginta Fiesta Orchestra at 15:00, followed by the Amicale Garnisounsmusek at 17:00 and Saxitude at 19:00.
