Details: The opera "Salome" written by Richard Strauss (1864-1949) will take place in the Grande Salle at the Grand Théâtre on 17 April 2016 at 17:00.

This dramatic opera is often labelled “steamy” and “the opera that every company wants to perform” and under the musical direction of Stefan Soltesz one can expect a Salome full of passion and vibrancy. Religion and sex from one of the bible’s most gruesome tales inspired this opera. Herod imprisoned John the Baptist for pointing out that the king had unlawfully married his brother’s wife, Herodias. Herod spares John’s life; but Herodias nursed an enormous grudge. At Herod’s birthday banquet, Herodias’ daughter Salome dances. As a reward Herod promises her whatever she asks. Her mother seizes the opportunity and suggests that she requests the head of John the Baptist...
