Details: The Trois-CL will be organising a conference and roundtable discussion as part of the “3 du trois” initiative, “Rethinking Dance”, on Wednesday, 3 June at its premises at the Bannanefabrik in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie from 11:00.
A lecture on the new extensions of the presence of dance artists – present or semi-present will be given by Mihaela Michailov to begin the day’s evnts.
She will explore the essence of dance movement within a society that is defined by the proliferation of spectacle and a need for constant movement.
Mihaela Michailov, a Romanian playwright and critic of the arts, will use her work on socio-political theatre and the theoretical aspects of performing. A PhD graduate in Theatrical Science from the University of Theatre and Cinema in Budapest, she was selected by the Royal Court Theatre for a residency for foreign playwrights in July 2009.
Following this, a roundtable forum on contemporary dance and the challenges of international collaborations will be held. This will include numerous international professionals, who will seek to open up the debate on the approaches and difficulties emanating from artistic collaboration and the development of cross-border projects.
Among those participating will be the aforementioned Mihaela Michailov, Cosmin Manolescu (choreographer and curator, Romania), Giselda Ranieri (dancer and choreographer, Italy), Tania Andreeva (choreographic artist, Norway/Russia), Cristian Nanculescu (dancer and choreographer, Romania), Anu Sistonen (dancer and choreographer, Luxembourg), Anne-Mareike Hess (dancer and choreographer, Luxembourg), Ainhoa Achutegui (Director of Néimënster, Luxembourg) and Bernard Baumgarten (Artistic Director at Trois-CL, Luxembourg).
The activities will be held in English.
