Details: The Global Game Jam is taking part in both Esch-sur-Alzette and Nancy this year, on 23-25 January 2015.
The event is a hackathon, whose goal is to create video games during a 48-hour period based on a given theme. It mostly targets digital creative people, professionals and amateurs, including graphic designers, musicians, software developers, UX designers, and so on.
Creativity, innovation, challenges and a relaxed atmosphere are the keys of this original event whcih is being organised simultaneously in more than 480 cities around the world and attracts more than 15,000 people.
This year, the Luxembourg public has the opportunity to attend this event at two locations in the Greater Region: Technoport in Esch-Sur-Alzette (Luxembourg) and Epitech in Nancy (France).
As for other media (press, books, music, etc.), digital technologies have changed everything during the last years by lowering barriers to entry the creation of video games. With this event, participants do not need to be an expert to create a video game in 2015. Everybody can join, from 14 to 77 years old! Nevertheless, the Game Jam is not a competition, but a time for innovation, sharing and learning, open to everyone.
Since the first edition organised by COIN in 2012, 4 independent studios have been funded after these game jams in the Greater Region.
A limited number of seats are available (currently 67 participants are registered, of which 29 are from Technoport), and registration is mandatory (see below for link).
This event is also open to the general public on Sunday 25 January at 17:00 for the presentation of the games created during the weekend.
