Details: The Italian Cultural Institute in Luxembourg is organising an event with renowned Italian writer Niccolò Ammaniti, on Thursday 30 January at the Cercle Cité auditorium from 19:00, moderated by Jean Portante.

Niccolò Ammaniti is the author of "Io e Te " the novel which was shot as teh last film by Bernardo Bertolucci. In 1995 he published along with his father, Massimo, a famous psychiatrist, "Nel nome del figlio", an essay on the problems of adolescence. In 1996, there are two publications: the new "Seratina" written by Luisa Brancaccio and published in the anthology "Gioventù Cannibale" and also the collection "Dernier Révillion" (Fango) that made him famous. A film was adapted from the first novel by Marco Risi, with Monica Bellucci: "L'ultimo capodanno" (IT) (1998). The following year saw "Branchies", played by Gianluca Grignani and directed by Francesco Ranieri Martinotti (IT). In 2001, he published "Io non ho paura" (I'm not afraid), a bestseller that won the Viareggio prize. In 2003, Gabriele Salvatores produced the film adaptation, and Niccolò Ammaniti and Francesca Marciano received the Ciak d'oro for best screenplay for this film. In 2007, he won the most prestigious Italian prize, the Strega Prize, for the novel "Come Dio commanda" (As God wills), also adapted into a film by Gabriele Salvatores. This writer is very popular abroad, and his books have been translated into more than forty languages.
