Details: AMCHAM has announced that it is organising an evening seminar on Thursday 30 January 2014 at the premises of Deloitte (560 rue de Neudorf, L-2220 Luxembourg) from 18:30, on the topic of Big Data: What does it mean for Luxembourg?

Big data generally refers to a hi-volume, hi-velocity, hi-variability set of data. The concept has become fashionable with the ever-increasing amount of data collected through all kinds of channels. Beyond the buzz, Big Data stands for the transformation of huge data chunks into understandable information that support the decision making process. While still largely perceived as being only accessible to large corporations, Big Data has found its way into the SME market.

What’s the current status and the future visions for Big Data? Where are the opportunities? What are the tools? How can your company benefit from Big Data? How can you get support for a Big Data project? These are some of the questions that will addressed during the session.

The ComIT event will address the challenge of visualizing Big Data, with Dr. Eng. Benoit Otjacques from Gabriel Lippmann and Dr. Younis Hijazis from Luxinnoation, as well as Vison, trends and opportunities related to big data, by Xavier Verhaeghe from Oracle. Also, Dieter Deramoudt from Oracle will present a Big data live demo-show on how data is gathered, combined, extracted and analysed.
