The Indian Arts and Cultural Association of Luxembourg (IACAL) will organise its first Ganesh Chaturthi celebration in Luxembourg, set to take place on Saturday 19 September 2026 at 3 Rue des Écoles in Schouweiler from 15:00 to 20:30.

The event will feature religious ceremonies and cultural activities, including Ganesh Pooja, Ganesh Homam, Ganesh Story, Archana, Maha Mangala Aarati, Pallaki Seva and Ganesh Visarjan.

Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity associated with wisdom, prosperity and new beginnings.

Celebrations traditionally involve the installation and decoration of Ganesha idols, prayers, offerings and the chanting of hymns. Modak, a sweet dumpling considered to be Ganesha's favourite, is also traditionally offered during the festival.

The celebration concludes with Ganesh Visarjan, during which an idol of Ganesha is carried in a procession and immersed in water, symbolising his return to Mount Kailash.

According to IACAL, the Luxembourg event aims to bring the community together while promoting Indian art, culture and traditions.
