The Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg is organising the conference “From Schuman to the Polycrisis: Perspectives on a Union in Transformation” at the Abbaye de Neumünster (neimënster) on Friday 13 June 2025.

According to the Representation of the European Commission, the conference will revisit the foundations of the European project in light of current challenges facing the EU, including increased polarisation. It is open to those interested in European affairs, such as citizens, students, researchers and political or economic stakeholders.

The event will feature Christoph Driessen, historian, journalist and author of "Griff nach den Sternen: Die Geschichte der Europäischen Union", who will reflect on the origins of the European Union through to the war in Ukraine, through selected readings from his book.

Jean-Claude Juncker, former President of the European Commission and former Prime Minister of Luxembourg, will share his analysis on the state of the European Union and its future outlook in the current context.

The event will begin at 18:00 and will be moderated by Anne Calteux, Head of the European Commission Representation in Luxembourg.
