The Grand Ducal Police reported that they carried out alcohol impairment checks in Luxembourg City, Weiswampach, Troisvierges and Wincrange on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 July 2026.
The checks were undertaken between 22:30 and 04:30 in Luxembourg City (Route d'Esch, Rue de Mühlenbach and Boulevard Pierre Dupong), as well as in Weiswampach (RN7), Troisvierges (RN12) and Wincrange (RN12).
During the operation, a total of 341 motorists were subjected to a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any serious indication of alcohol consumption.
According to the police, fourteen tests returned positive results. Officers issued ten official reports and four fixed-penalty notices. In five of the cases resulting in official reports, driving licences were withdrawn on the spot.
The police also intercepted one person driving without a valid driving licence. Another motorist was stopped based on suspicion and, after testing positive for alcohol, also had their driving licence withdrawn on the spot.
In addition, eight fixed-penalty notices were issued for various offences under the Highway Code.
