Details: The British Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg is organising its July luncheon which will take place at noon on Wednesday 10 July 2013 and will include a guided tour of MUDAM with an introductory speech by Enrico Lunghi, Director of the museum.
The government of Jacques Santer, now President of the Board of Directors of the Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, provided the impetus for an ambitious cultural infrastructure programme. In the early 1990s, the government decided to entrust the design of the new museum to the Sino-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei – famous for having designed museums in Washington and in Boston, and having overseen the refurbishment of the Louvre in Paris and the entire Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin.
The tour will commence with an aperitif, generously sponsored by Anglo American Luxembourg, and an introductory speech by Enrico Lunghi. The key works of the Mudam Collection and the temporary exhibitions will be explained during the tour.
The exhibitions on show will be: Folkert de Jong - Actus Tragicus; L'image papillon; Art Orient objet; Lutz & Guggisberg.
Lunch will be hosted in the Mudam Café, arranged by the French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. The space and the menu were conceived as an integral part of the museum visit, extending the multiple experiences to which visitors are invited to avail themselves during their discovery of the exhibitions in one of the country’s most beautiful pieces of architecture.
