Details: Although they dress like modern-day Sunset Stripsters, Rival Sons blast back musically to the early ’70s. The Californians are causing a stir in vintage rock circles due to their heartfelt fusions of Led Zeppelin, Free and latter-day sources such as Guns ‘n’ Roses or the Black Crowes. First single Pressure And Time sums it up pretty well. Frontman Jay Buchanan is an undeniable vocal force. His singing on Burn Down Los Angeles sounds pyrotechnic enough to do just that… Like many before them, Rival Sons play blues rock with a pulsating hard-on. The difference is, their flawless execution and mastery of hooks means theirs have a few more veins… Check out their latest album, Head Down. Despite the title it shows the band heading nowhere but up!
