Details: Every year, the choirs of the Anglican Chaplaincies of North-West Europe meet for a day’s singing workshop and, in the context of a service, sing larger-scale works than might otherwise be possible individually, this Saturday 1 June 2013.
This year the festival, in the form of a service of Choral Evensong, will be hosted by the Anglican Church of Luxembourg. The service will be led by Rev Chris Lyon. Matthew Owens (Organist and Master of the Music at Wells Cathedral) will conduct the choir of over 60 choristers from Anglican and Episcopal Churches in the Archdeaconry of North-West Europe (Luxembourg, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France.) Roger Goodwyn (Organist at the church of the Holy Trinity in Walferdange) will play the organ.
Music will include canticles for double choir by Hugh Blair, responses by Alan Carlisle and anthems by Malcolm Archer (“Sing we merrily”), Josef Haydn (“The heavens are telling” from his oratorio “The Creation”) and Johannes Brahms (“Geistliches Lied”).
All are welcome to this service, which takes place on Saturday 1 June at 16:30 in the Konvikt Chapel on Avenue Marie-Therese in Luxembourg city.
