Details:
The first weekend (traditionally the Sunday) after Carnival is the time to burn away the winter in Luxembourg.
This tradition brings together many people in various towns and villages to watch the bonfires that symbolically chase away winter, and welcome spring together over drinks and a bowl of soup (or other hot food).
Usually local youth clubs or organisations organise the festivities, erecting the large wooden structures (Buergen) which will then be set alight.
