The Ensemble Vocal du Luxembourg (EVL) is teaming up with Christiane Kremer (narrator) and Anette Fischer-Lichdi (pianist) for performances of "Tales from the Earth and the Sea" at the Mierscher Kulturhaus in Mersch on Friday 27 and Sunday 29 October 2023.
Synopsis: Imagine if there were a magic potion that makes young and old listen spellbound, that fires the imagination and expands vocabulary at the same time, that also strengthens trust and lets you look to the future with courage and confidence. This magical remedy has a name: fairytales and stories. Storytelling runs through all times and cultures, from classic fairytales and myths to film, social media and politics. Everywhere you look, life is steeped in stories. And they are not just for children...
Because of its special proximity to narrative, choral music is considered a good tool for telling stories. For its new programme, the EVL is dedicating itself to these ancient stories, which contain the wisdom and cleverness of several millennia of human history. These stories will be told with music and language from different eras and choral traditions.
There are two performances set for 27 October: one at 10:00 for schools and another at 20:00, which is open to the public. A family concert (for families with children) will take place on 29 October at 11:00. The performances are multilingual (Luxembourgish, German, French and English).
