A screening of the documentary and musical performance Mother's Heart: Children Keep All Our Tears is taking place at Escher Theater in Esch-sur-Alzette on Wednesday 11 October 2023 at 20:00.
Organised by LUkraine asbl, in partnership with the City of Esch-sur-Alzette and Escher Theater as part of UA Days, this poignant performance (interpreted by the Ukrainian theatre group Dakh) delves into the tragedy of mothers whose children are on the front line.
The storyline of the performance explores a woman's memories of love, birth, childhood and the anticipation of what may not happen due to war. The story combines three time dimensions: the past, the present and the possible happy future.
The performance is based on personal texts written by Ukrainian mothers to their sons during Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, including letters from women in a bomb shelter in Mariupol and a woman from Lviv whose two sons died on the front line.
The performance is in Ukrainian with English subtitles.
