Details: A Brännboll tournament is being organised for the Nordic community in Luxembourg on Sunday 2 June 2103 at the Stade Boy Kohnen in Cessange.
Brännboll is a game similar to baseball which is played a lot in Sweden and in some similar ways in Denmark and Finland. Each team has a maximum of 10 players on the field at any one time, of which at least three must be female.
In Luxembourg, Brännboll was first played by staff from two Swedish banks in Luxembourg, Swedbank and Handelsbanken, playing together nearly 10 years ago. After the initial year's success, the organisers invited two more banks, SEB and Nordea, and for the last six years there are a total of eight Swedish-related banks participating.
This tournament has become rather popular, attracting not only the players themselves, but also their families and friends, with 250-300 people expected to attend as in previous years. Crossfire takes care of the catering, Friskis&Svettis comes for a very useful warming-up session, there are bouncy castles and games for children, and music of course.
The play starts at 14:00 with two groups of four teams and each team playing the other three teams in the same group. The final will be contested between the winners of both groups at around 17:30.
