The Association of British and Irish Accountants in Luxembourg (ABIAL) is organising an event as part of its series "networking events with purpose" at IKKI restaurant-bar in Luxembourg-Clausen on Thursday 9 June 2022 from 19:00.

Patrick Friedgen, first responder from Luxembourg, will speak about the floods and other devastating events in the region over the past years at this event.

Patrick Friedgen is Head of GSP (Groupe de support psychologique), a specialised intervention team of the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS). Founded In 1997 by volunteer firefighters and after a special training programme called "Help for helpers", GSP started its support which was limited to members of emergency services. Soon, the Luxembourg government recognised the importance of such services and its assistance was extended to the entire population. Today, GSP provides psychical first aid after potentially traumatic accidents, for physical non-injured parties involved in accidents. Exclusively composed of volunteers, GSP's assistance is available 24/7 via the national emergency number 112.
