On Friday 2 October 2026, Spuerkeess announced the appointment of Gaëlle Haag as Director and member of the bank's Management Committee, effective from Sunday 1 November 2026.
Appointed by Luxembourg's Government Council, the competent banking supervisory authorities have also confirmed that they have no objections as part of the prior approval procedure.
In her role as Chief Operating Officer (COO), Gaëlle Haag will be responsible for key areas related to the implementation of the bank's strategic priorities. According to Spuerkeess, her responsibilities will include the development of its operating model and addressing challenges and opportunities related to technological developments, compliance and cybersecurity.
A Luxembourgish and Belgian national, Gaëlle Haag has more than twenty years of experience in the finance and insurance sectors, noted Spuerkeess, adding that she has held senior positions at financial institutions in Luxembourg and has also worked in consulting, leading strategic transformation projects for financial and public institutions in Luxembourg and at European level.
She holds a Master's degree in Business Engineering, Advanced Management and Finance from the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management.
Camille Fohl, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Spuerkeess, said that Gaëlle Haag would join the bank's management team alongside Benoît Elvinger, who took over as CEO and head of the Management Committee on Thursday 1 October 2026.
Benoît Elvingercommented: “The diversity of expertise within the Management Committee will be a major asset in continuing the Bank's transformation in the service of its clients and the development of the Luxembourg economy, while preserving the foundations of solidity and trust that characterise Spuerkeess.”
According to Spuerkeess, the appointment forms part of its 2030 strategic plan and marks another step in the generational renewal of the bank's management team.
