On Wednesday 24 September 2025, Luxembourg Minister for the Civil Service, Serge Wilmes, inaugurated a third coworking space in Dudelange, intended for State employees.
According to the ministry, the new site, located within the building that houses CFL Multimodal, provides 32 workstations and complements the coworking spaces in Schieren and Clervaux, which opened in March 2024 and May 2025 respectively.
The ministry noted that the new facility enables 4,600 employees living within roughly 40 km to work closer to home, thereby avoiding the often heavily congested commute to the capital. Minister Wilmes stated: “We are committed to offering our employees solutions to avoid long commutes by providing flexible and welcoming facilities.”
Situated near the A13 and A3 motorways and close to Bettembourg station, to which the site is connected by a bus service, the Dudelange coworking space will save up to 14.90 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
The CFL management, represented by Jeannot Waringo, Chair of the CFL Board of Directors, Barbara Chevalier, Director of Freight Operations and Alain Blau, Chief Administrative and Financial Officer, expressed their satisfaction and stated: “We are very pleased to host the Ministry of the Civil Service in our premises. Their commitment to reducing CO2 emissions through innovative workspaces fits perfectly with our vision of a sustainable future. This is a fine collaboration built on shared values.”
As part of the rollout of coworking spaces for State employees, the Minister Wilmes also announced the opening of a forthcoming site, due to be inaugurated in Differdange in the first quarter of 2026: “We are promoting the development of modern working methods and encouraging other administrations to implement innovative approaches.”
