The number of jobseekers registered with the ADEM employment agency in Luxembourg has increased by 7.4% over one year.
As of 29 February 2020, the number of available resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM was 16,652. Over one year, this represents an increase of 1,144 individuals, or 7.4%. On the other hand, the number of available non-resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM was 2,686 at the end of February 2020, an increase of 0.5% compared to February 2019.
In addition, the total number of beneficiaries of employment benefits in Luxembourg was 4,217 at the end of last month. Over one year, this represents an decrease of 90 individuals, or 2.1%.
Over the course of February 2020, the ADEM opened 2,193 new applications from resident jobseekers, a decrease of 12.9% compared to the previous year. The agency also opened 546 new applications from non-resident jobseekers, which represents an decrease of 11.1% over one year.
During the month of February 2020, employers reported 3,605 vacancies to the ADEM, which equated to 369 or 11.4.% more posts than in February 2019.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate calculated by STATEC stayed at 5.5%.
The ADEM has assured that these figures reflect the situation as of 29 February 2020 and are not yet influenced by the latest events related to coronavirus.
