Luxembourg's Ministry of State has announced that the German Federal Police are currently carrying out checks along the German-Luxembourg border in the context of the coronavirus crisis.

Despite these border checks, commuters are allowed to enter and exit on the condition that they carry a commuter certificate and move between their place of residence and work only. Proof of the need to cross the border can be requested at any time.

In this regard, the German Federal Police have drawn up a new, uniform certificate for commuters, which can be placed behind the windshield in a clearly visible manner. This certificate is valid from now on, although the certificate issued by the Luxembourg government on 15 March 2020 also remains valid and will continue to be accepted by the German Federal Police.

This certificate can be accessed via the following link: https://gouvernement.lu/dam-assets/documents/actualites/2020/03-mars/Zertifikat-Berufspendler-Nachweis-Notwendigkeit-Grenzuebertritt.pdf.
