The national employment agency ADEM has announced the simplification of its registration and application process for unemployment benefits in Luxembourg.
ADEM has asked that jobseekers who lose their jobs due to the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic first complete the online form available on the ADEM website. Following this, the agency's advisers will contact the jobseekers by telephone or email to finalise their registration. The data mentioned on the online form will also be used to check whether the conditions for obtaining unemployment benefits are met.
ADEM advisers will contact the eligible jobseekers by telephone in order to prepare the unemployment benefit claim.
In this way, it is no longer necessary to go to an ADEM agency in person to register or apply for unemployment benefits. To register or apply, visit https://adem.public.lu/en/support/inscription.html.
Having been contacted by Chronicle.lu, ADEM confirmed that figures on job losses related to the coronavirus pandemic are not yet known. These may be communicated in the coming weeks depending on the duration of the crisis.
