The number of jobseekers registered with the ADEM employment agency in Luxembourg has increased by 8.7% over one year; the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate calculated by STATEC was 5.5%.
As of 31 January 2020, the number of available resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM was 16,476. Over one year, this represents an increase of 1,319 individuals, or 8.7%. On the other hand, the number of available non-resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM was 2,467 at the end of January 2020, a decrease of 8.9% compared to the previous year.
In addition, the total number of beneficiaries of employment benefits in Luxembourg was 4,210 at the end of last month. Over one year, this represents an decrease of 28 individuals, or 0.7%.
Over the course of January 2020, the ADEM opened 2,883 new applications from resident jobseekers, a decrease of 10.7% compared to the previous year. The agency also opened 653 new applications from non-resident jobseekers, which represents an decrease of 13.3% over one year.
During the month of January 2020, employers reported 4,401 vacancies to the ADEM, which equated to 899 or 25.7% more posts than in January 2019.
