The University of Luxembourg Competence Centre, in close collaboration with the Ministry of State’s Department of Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy (SMC), Digital Luxembourg, the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth and the University of Luxembourg, has announced the launch of a second series of the highly acclaimed Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) entitled “Elements of AI” for February 2023.
The main goal of the Luxembourg edition of the MOOC is to demystify Artificial Intelligence (AI) for as broad an audience as possible and to provide a multitude of additional study accompaniments for citizens and teaching professionals alike. Thanks to the support of the SMC and the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth, this personalised version of the MOOC will be offering, among others, “study workshops” for teachers willing to integrate AI sensibilisation in their classrooms.
An inclusive digital transformation requires new digital skills and a broader awareness of what Artificial Intelligence (AI) can do or not do. There is no denying that this revolutionary technology has become a determining success factor for any nation and the Luxembourg Government has clear ambitions in that regard. AI provides huge opportunities for growth and competitiveness. Thus, knowledge of AI is power.
Launched in the context of Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2019, “Elements of AI” is a series of free online courses created by MinnaLearn and the University of Helsinki. The MOOC aims to equip as many people as possible, including those not in "tech", with the knowledge of how AI can be applied to real-life applications, and what the implications of this technology are for individuals, companies and society in general. On top of that, it also serves as a refresher to experts in the field. Elements of AI is one of the highest-rated massive open online courses and the organisers have introduced a tailored version available in German, French and English, which includes webinars with national experts and study workshops on different subjects related to the awareness of AI.
