Luxembourg-based business school, HEC Liège, has reported that it recently held its first graduation ceremony at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

The event, held on Friday 7 February 2025, saw graduates, faculty members, partners and guests gather to honour sixteen MBA graduates, 29 Private Equity graduates, two Fintech graduates and 25 Open Courses graduates who successfully completed courses at the school.

Addressing the graduates, Muriel Morbé, Director Talent and Skills at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and Board Member of HEC Liège Luxembourg, said: "You are the pioneers of this programme, setting an example of excellence in executive education. Your achievements today will inspire future professionals seeking to advance their careers through high-level academic training".

Wilfried Niessen, Director General and Dean of HEC Liège, highlighted the importance of networking, stating: "I encourage you to stay connected, support one another and actively cultivate your professional network. You are now part of our Alumni network for your entire life".

Guest speakers at the event included Julian Troian, Talent Management & Development Lead at ING Luxembourg, who shed light on cognitive bias in leadership, by citing a Harvard Business Review study. He stated that "95% of executives believe they rank among the top 10% of leaders. Clearly, the math doesn’t add up".  He added that this belief highlighted the urgent need for continuous leadership development and self-awareness among executives.

HEC Liège Luxembourg reported that the Private Equity and Fintech certificates were developed in collaboration with the Luxembourg Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (LPEA), represented by CEO Stéphane Pesch, and the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (LHoFT), represented by Anthony Martini, Head of Education & Talent, and thanked both organisations for their support.

HEC Liège Luxembourg added that the certifications address key challenges in talent attraction and retention, equipping professionals with the expertise required to navigate an evolving financial landscape. With private equity and fintech playing a growing role in Luxembourg’s economy, these programmes are designed to ensure professionals can meet industry demands and contribute effectively to their organisations.
