On Friday 22 May 2026, Luxembourg officially inaugurated the new "LuXembourg House Pop-up Store" at Luxembourg Airport, which showcases Luxembourgish products, language and creativity to international travellers.

Located near the entrance on the right-hand side, the pop-up store has been integrated into the airport's glass-walled space and features Luxembourg flag colours and locally inspired printed designs.

The inauguration gathered government representatives, lux-Airport officials and local producers, including Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, Luxembourg's Minister for Mobility and Public Works, Yuriko Backes, CEO of lux-Airport Alexander Flassak and concessionaire of Luxembourg House Marc Ewert.

Opening the event, each of the representatives gave a speech in Luxembourgish. Alexander Flassak welcomed guests and highlighted the cooperation behind the project, thanking the ministries, administration teams and Luxembourg House partners involved in the initiative. He described the store as "a great opportunity for Luxembourg to present Luxembourgish producers".

Speaking next, Minister Backes focused on the airport's role as a gateway to the country and on infrastructure investments linked to passenger growth.

"At that time, 1.7 million passengers were allowed to enter, so eighteen years later, we are now at more than five million. To be exact, 5.3 million passengers," she said while referring to the airport's growth since the opening of the current terminal building in 2008.

Minister Backes referred to ongoing development plans and future infrastructure projects at the airport. "We have to anticipate them," she stated regarding passenger growth, adding: "For this, we made big investments for the airport with the city to further develop the airport."

Following the minister's speech, Marc Ewert spoke about the Luxembourg House concept and the importance of presenting Luxembourgish products and producers to both residents and international visitors through the new airport location.

Concluding the speeches, Minister Delles described the pop-up store as an important platform for promoting Luxembourg abroad and supporting the country’s branding strategy. He explained that the airport offers travellers an opportunity to purchase Luxembourg-themed products before departure.

"If you miss it, you can get a piece of Luxembourg," he remarked while speaking about visitors buying souvenirs at the airport. "We have a great assortment of products from the Luxembourg collection," he stated.

He also highlighted the wider "Let's Make It Happen" campaign and ongoing efforts to strengthen Luxembourg’s visibility inside the airport.

Speaking with Chronicle.lu before the official speeches, local producer Tess Burton presented Luxembourg-themed textile products and explained that the idea emerged from a lack of locally designed gift products on the market.

"We never had something with Luxembourgish designs, then the idea came," she said.

After the speeches, participants gathered for photographs before concluding the inauguration with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting attended by the speakers and several producers whose goods are available in the store.

The pop-up store will remain at the airport until winter and features products from brands including Genaveh chocolates, Luc Guillaume wooden products, Kichechef and the Luxembourg Collection, among others.
