Luxembourg-based Arnold Kontz Group has announced the successful acquisition of the Jaguar Land Rover and Kia dealerships in Habay-la-Neuve, Belgium's Luxembourg province.
Established in Habay-la-Neuve since 1951, the Thiry group has officially represented Land Rover since 1973, Jaguar since 1977 and Kia since 2005. The dealership employees 30 people at present.
The Arnold Kontz Group has assured that it will continue to develop the business on this large site along the E411 / E25 motorway. This is the first establishment of its activity abroad and through this merger, the Arnold Kontz Group now represents a sales volume of around 1,500 new cars per year. The Thiry family will support the Arnold Kontz group in the coming months in a transition phase planned until the end of 2020.
Benji Kontz, Managing Director of Arnold Kontz Group, commented: “The acquisition of the Thiry dealership in Habay-la- New is for us a great opportunity, on the one hand, to consolidate our collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover on a market adjacent to Luxembourg and on the other hand, to represent now with Kia a complementary brand with a very interesting range of models and excellent development potential. Jaguar, Land Rover and Kia at the same time are among the most advanced brands in electric technology. The Thiry dealerships have a good reputation in the region and have excellent visibility from the motorway. This site constitutes for us a magnificent tool that we wish to develop in the long term".
Albert Thiry, Group Director of Thiry, added: "We are very happy to have been able to transfer our family business to the Arnold Kontz group, which will ensure its continuity on the basis of what our family has built over the past 70 years. I have greatly appreciated the discussions with the Arnold Kontz group over the past few months and I am sure that we have found the right buyer to ensure the continuity of our concessions in the same family spirit”.
Marc Bienemann, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover BeNeLux, concluded: "This acquisition is further proof of the confidence that the Arnold Kontz group has in the Jaguar and Land Rover brands and it is with great pleasure that we support the Arnold Kontz group team in their major project".
