Logwin, the logistics company headquartered in Grevenmacher, announced today that it is further extending its South American network with additional actions in Bogotá.

In October 2015, the company, which provides logistics and transport solutions to industry and trade customers, set up its own country organisation in Colombia, opening a branch in the free trade area of the capital city of Bogotá. This new division will comprise seven staff to start with, headed by Country Director Ana Sabrina Figueroa and her extensive experience in the international logistics sector.

This Colombian development will represent an addition to Logwin's current South American portfolio, which consists of subsidiary companies in Brazil, Mexico and Chile which it has held for many years. In February earlier this year, the company acquired a 100% share of the Chilean country organisation and has recently opened an additional branch office in mexico's Querétaro.

"The new company in Colombia fits perfectly into our existing network," stated Max Bernaldo, Managing Director Americas at Logwin. "Colombia is one of the largest growth markets in South America and offers great potential and not just for routes within the Americas. In addition to the Mercosur region, traffic between Asia and Europe region is also gaining in importance".

Imports in consumer and capital goods have been of increasing importance for Colombia, as the country's middle class is growing and purchasing power is on the rise, with the bulk of imports arriving from North America, Europe and Asia. Intra-Mercosur trade is simultaneously growing.

"Our customers are asking about reliable forwarding and logistics services on these routes," explained Ana Sabrina Figueroa. "With our own country organisation in Colombia, we can better meet the country's requirements and with greater flexibility".

The Colombian sector of Logwin will organise the global transport of air and ocean freight, as well as other related services such as customs clearance, value added services and door-to-door deliveries for customers from a range of departments. the company reported that the new office will draw on a globally standardised IT-system in order to guarantee the smooth flow of information.
