Cluster for Logistics Luxembourg today announced that from the beginning of the school year 2015/2016 students of the 9th TE and 9th PO will have the opportunity to begin a new form of logistics training.
Registration for the technician course in logistics, Level DT, will be available at Lallange and Bonnevoie high schools on 16, 17 and 20 July 2015.
This training is designed for young students interested in practical rather than theoretical training, with the idea of moulding motivated young people for future job opportunities and logistics companies.
"We regularly look for dispatchers, but it was difficult until now to recruit qualified staff," stated CEO of Arthur Welter Transports, Viviane Welter. "We place great hope in this new industry."
The training is intended to lead participants towards a number of administrative and organisational positions, such as office administrator, transport organiser, warehouse manager, storage managers or customs declarant. The sector provides jobs in various fields such as transport by road, rail, air or sea, and has been reported as equally popular with both men and women. However, logistics apparently attracts far more people than transportation and warehousing.
"Technology plays a major role in the effectiveness of the supply chain," explained Managing Director of Champ, Arnaud Lambert. "The logistics business units attract young people interested in new technologies because the activities are increasingly computer-related."
The first year of training, the 10th, is held in common with DT Administrative and Commercial Training, whilst the training from the 11th year takes place alternately with two days of school and three days of work. The apprentice will receive a monthly apprenticeship allowance from their boss and will immediately begin to learn the trade.

"Thus, we give these students the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge and to gain valuable experience. These courses are a key element in their training: they will offer them a better understanding of the business world."
