Nature Quiz 2018;
Friday evening's Nature Quiz was won by the Die-Haards, with €350 being raised for the wild animal refuge in Dudelange.
This time round, last year's winners, Birds of Paradise, went under the name of Melusinaesauri, and finished a very honourable 2nd, with 53 points (out of 80). They finished just ahead of the Vagrants, with 50 points; however, both teams were well behind the very impressive Die-Haards, with 62 points in total.
The Die-Haards could arguably have deserved to win for their name alone, which is a play on the Haard nature reserve near Dudelange. The team did indeed comprise five conservationists from Dudelange who were good on nature in general, but their win was particularly impressive given that all are native Luxembourgers, i.e. not native English speakers.
The questions posed a challenge to all teams competing, with just three too tricky for all.
